Brasovan Response to TCC Letter

For Immediate Release: December 21, 2009

Contact: Danielle Capper, dcapper@mikebrasovan.com

Will there be a 14th charge of premeditated murder against Major Nidal Malik Hasan? The Texas Conservative Coalition (TCC) recently sent a letter to the Secretary of the Army, the Honorable John McHugh regarding the terrorist act at Fort Hood.  Major Hasan has been charged with 13 counts of premeditated murder and tried under a military court martial.  The TCC is requesting an additional count of murder be added to the list of charges if it is found Private Francheska Velez was pregnant at the time of her death.

The Uniform Code of Military Justice states in part that:

(1) Any person subject to this chapter who engages in conduct that violates any of the provisions of law … and thereby causes the death of… , a child, who is in utero at the time the conduct takes place, is guilty of a separate offense…

Thirty-one Texas state representatives signed the letter, and it was copied to both U.S. Senators Kay Bailey Hutchison and John Cornyn, as well as several Texas U.S. congressional representatives. We found it interesting Kay Granger was absent from this list.

As a candidate for U.S. Congress, District 12, Mike Brasovan fully agrees with the expressed concern in the TCC letter sent to the Secretary of the Army.

“I challenge Representative Granger to join me in publicly signing this letter and asking that Major Hasan be charged for this additional crime. I hope she will join me and the North Texas lawmakers in supporting these efforts to see justice done for ALL of the victims at Fort Hood,” said Brasovan.

Brasovan on Midnight Healthcare

For Immediate Release: December 21, 2009

BRASOVAN BLASTS ‘MIDNIGHT HEALTHCARE‘

“A blatantly corrupt and unjust bill, supported by graft and bribery, moved forward in the Senate,” said Mike Brasovan, congressional candidate for District 12.  “It is truly a sad state of affairs when obvious bribes to senators to get their votes are treated as acceptable tactics.  Senators and Congressmen to Washington should do what is best for our nation, not work to obtain special favors for their states or constituencies.”

Brasovan believes this bill is exactly the opposite of what America wants and needs.  Instead of increasing the freedom we have in how we obtain healthcare and health insurance, these 60 senators have decided that they know best and are moving to seize another huge part of the American economy.

“Last night’s vote, and this bill, is nothing short of shameful,” said Brasovan.

The Democrats invoked FDR, who said we should have the "Freedom from want and the freedom from fear".  They say now we won’t have to fear getting sick.

“I don't think they understand that they are ones scaring all of us. Now we can fear not having health coverage because now we can go to jail for it!  And, like those in Canada, eventually we will fear getting sick because we will fear not being able to get into the doctor’s office,” said Brasovan.

Tom Harkin, Democrat for Iowa, invoked Ted Kennedy who said healthcare is a right. Harkin said, "Healthcare will be an unalienable right of every American".

“Since when do I have to pay anything for my unalienable rights?  Do I have to pay the government for my right to life?  Liberty?  The pursuit of happiness?  Will I now be able to go to the doctor and demand to be treated for free because it is my right?” asked Brasovan, “Unalienable rights from our Declaration of Independence were given to us by our Creator and healthcare was not one of them.”

Republican Study Committee No Longer Conservative

I am deeply disturbed that the Republican Study Committee has accepted Kay Granger as a new member. I have always considered the RSC to be a fine organization of truly conservative Congressman but that is no longer the case.

First, Kay Granger is openly PRO-CHOICE (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cTNRytKDk70) . How does that fit in with the RSC’s “Family Values” position? Openly supporting abortion is not a family value in any way. As a matter of fact being pro-abortion (or the politically correct “pro-choice”) is decidedly ANTI family..

Second, Kay Granger is one of the most prolific spenders in Congress, not just among Republicans but out of all Congressman she still ranks in the top 50. Her earmarks on projects like the Botanical Gardens and the Trinity River Project are ridiculous and have absolutely nothing to do with the federal governments responsibilities. All she has done for 7 terms in Congress is vote for increased wasteful spending and ever growing government.

Third, she voted FOR TARP. She now boldly proclaims how she voted against the stimulus and other government attempts to take over but the fact remains that she voted for a government takeover of the banking system – how does that fit in with the RSC position?

It’s obvious to anyone looking that Kay Granger is attempting to “remake” herself in this election year when the vast majority of Americans are looking for true conservative leadership. It won’t work – we won’t be fooled by her “too late” change of heart. In a recent article about wasteful government spending in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram when she was contacted by the reporter for comment – she refused to respond. That lack of leadership coupled with her positions that are completely contrary to the RSC positions makes me wonder if maybe the other members of the RSC have forgotten what happened in the last 2 election cycles to congressman who forgot their conservative principles?

Remember NY-23? Who did you endorse? The acceptance of Kay Granger’s membership can and will cause the same kind of backlash that republicans who endorsed the RINO in that race got. I hope you seriously reconsider this and rescind her membership before it’s too late.

Sincerely,

Michael Gallops

Why Run Against Granger?

It's a fair question that deserves an answer.

Simply put, I believe our nation got in the mess it is in due to the lack of leadership from many of our elected representatives.  For too long, and on too many issues, these representatives have tried to lead from the middle of the road, sacrificing core principles. In my opinion, a fallacy took hold that leaning toward centrist views would attract more people to the GOP.  In contrast to this myth, conservatives across Texas and America have made their voices clear they want strong, fiscally astute leaders who will not sacrifice their conservative principles.  Therefore, as Republicans, we need to return to our foundation of conservatism and show true leadership in Washington.

As your Representative, I will uphold conservative principles and values and help the Republican Party return to its foundational roots.  You can read more about my ideas of how to accomplish this at

Federal Funding, Kay Granger and a Lack of Leadership
Granger won't "go there"...

A very informative article in Sunday's issue of the Star Telegram laid out the federal funding received in Tarrant county.  It is disappointing to see the lack of leadership by Granger and other Republican officials to seriously address how we MUST reduce federal spending.  Well, let's dare to "go there" and begin to address ways to cut unconstitutional expenditures by the federal government.  It is time Republican leaders begin to seperate funding responsibilites of the federal branch and the states.  For a full response to this article go to www.MikeBrasovanBlog.com.

BRASOVAN'S ENDORSEMENT LIST GROWS

BRASOVAN’S ENDORSEMENT LIST GROWS

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: December 14, 2009

CONTACT: Danielle Capper

Fort Worth, TX- Mike Brasovan (R), Congressional Candidate for District 12, has been endorsed by two Tarrant County GOP Precinct Chairmen, Don Shipe and Bill Eastland.

Shipe, of Fort Worth, is a conservative activist who fervently believes in the Reagan Revolution. He is also the District 97 Area Leader for 50 Republican precinct chairmen in the Southwest part of Tarrant County and has been a Tarrant County Precinct Chairman for 47 years.

Don believes we need statesmen rather than politicians. The difference being: A politician hates having his voting record exposed because it is not consistent with his words, or his philosophy, whereas a statesman is PROUD of his voting record because of its INTEGRITY and it's CONSISTENCY.

Shipe says Granger’s voting record is the main reason why he’s endorsing Brasovan. She has the lowest anti-pork ranking from Club for Growth of the eight North Texas U. S. congressmen for 2007 and 2009. This ranking is known as the “RePork Card”.

Other 7 North Tex Cong - Avg        Kay Granger

2007 Ranking                                71%                                21%

2009 Ranking                                80%                                  7%

“I heartily endorse Mike Brasovan, because I believe he is closer to my standard of a Reagan Conservative and would vote 90% of the time with true conservatives like Jeb Hensarling,” said Shipe.

Brasovan is running against Granger in the 2010 March Republican primary.

Bill Eastland, Republican Precinct Chair of Precinct 2168 in Tarrant County, is also endorsing Brasovan.

“I believe Mike Brasovan embodies the conservative values we need in Washington,” said Eastland, “Particularly, he understands that we must return to the concept of Limited Government as understood by the Founders.  I will do what I can to help!”

Senate District 2 Republican Volunteer of the Year, Mark Russo, said it is an honor for him to endorse Brasovan.

"Over the past two years, Mr. Brasovan has shown leadership, energy, and an ear that will be an asset to the district," said Russo. "I have been across the state and every time Mike is always one of the first ones to step up to the plate,” said Russo, "Mike Brasovan is an easy choice."
