Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving All!!

Thanksgiving 2009 for the Brasovan family, and for our nation, are unique.  For my family it is a time of rest (at least a day or two) before we head back out for the last 95 days of campaigning.  I am thankful for so much in life but this year I am particularly thankful that I have the freedom and opportunity to pursue a seat in Congress.  Taking such a big step is not an option for so many around the world that don't live in free nations.  It will, Lord willing, be an honor to represent the people of District 12 in Congress and to fight for our nation.  With your help we can win that fight!

For our nation it is a time of unique challenges.  Much of our government seems to be warring against the way of life - based on limited government, free enterprise and a belief and trust in God almighty - that has made this nation great.  We can be thankful that, despite its efforts, the United States is still the envy of the world.  Let us not forget to be thankful for the opportunity we have to live in, and preserve, such a great nation.

We also should remember those that will not be home over Thanksgiving.  We have men and women serving our nation all over the world, putting themselves in harm's way to protect our freedoms.  Please remember them in your prayers and may God bless them and their families.

I also want to thank you for your support.  Your encouragement, both through what you tell us and what many of you have provided for us through you support is very appreciated.  My family and I are thankful for that support and ask that you keep us in your prayers in the coming days.

May God bless you and yours this Thanksgiving!

Respectfully,

Mike Brasovan

More Thievery in the Dark of the Night

More Thievery in the Dark of the Night...

Fellow Texans,

I write to you today because later tonight the Senate will bring to a vote a 2,071 page healthcare bill chock-full of taxes and provisions that will fundamentally change our nation.  The House and Senate are well on their way to achieving another government takeover of a major industry in our country.  Instead of focusing on tort reform and cleaning up Medicare and Medicaid, they are ramming a bill down the throats of the American people without regard to the unintended consequences we have already witnessed by government entitlement programs.

Among the many outrageous provisions in this bill is one specifically tailored for our neighboring Louisiana in order to influence, or some might say buy, a "Yea" vote from Senator Mary Landrieu.  As reported by ABC News' Jonathan Karl today:

"On page 432 of the Reid bill, there is a section increasing federal Medicaid subsidies for "certain states recovering from a major disaster".

The section spends two pages defining which "states" would qualify, saying, among other things, that it would be states that "during the preceding 7 fiscal years" have been declared a "major disaster area."

I am told the section applies to exactly one state:  Louisiana, the home of moderate Democrat Mary Landrieu, who has been playing hard to get on the health care bill."

This "I'll scratch your back if you'll scratch mine" mentality of our government has got to stop.  Votes on bills need to be based on the merits of the solutions, not because a member of Congress is going to gain $100,000,000 for their district or state.

I ask you to join me in contacting our Senators at
www.senate.gov to let them know we are for reform - like tort reform and competition across state lines for insurance companies - but not a reform demanding participation and blatantly ignoring the Constitution they have sworn to protect.  You can read more about this on my blog at www.MikeBrasovanBlog.com.

Pat Carlson endorses Mike Brasovan

Pat Carlson endorses Mike Brasovan...

Good Afternoon!

As I travel around Tarrant, Parker and Wise Counties, I am encouraged by the enthusiasm of the constituents.  Their passion and love of our nation is infectious.  We continue to press forward as we knock on doors, attend events and get our message to the people of District 12.

This week we are excited about the endorsement of Pat Carlson, Vice President of Carlson Engineering, Inc.  Ms. Carlson is the President of the Texas Eagle Forum and also serves on the Advisory Council at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.  She was the Tarrant County Republican Party Chairman from 200-2005, a member of the Council for National Policy, and a member of the Fort Worth Rotary Club.

"I believe Mike Brasovan is a man who will have the integrity and courage to stand up for his conservative principles as he represents Congressional District 12," said Carlson.

You can read more about Ms. Carlson's endorsement on The Texas Insider at http://www.texasinsider.org/?p=18486.

I am excited and encouraged at the progress the campaign continues to make each day.  Please join me in leading the way to bring fiscal principles to Washington.  $100, $50, $10 or even $5 will help get us on the road to Washington.  You can donate at www.MikeBrasovan.com

November 2009 Fair Tax
"A billion here a billion there, pretty soon it adds up to real money"
~Senator Everett Dirkson
(R) Illinois, 1951-1969
Howdy and thank you for supporting our campaign to send a principled conservative to office.  A lot has gone on since we started this journey.  Our list of supporters continues to grow.  Last week we raised over $10,000 - half of it online and half through solicitations.  This support is allowing us to take our campaign to the next level.  What does that mean you ask?  Well, we will have to tell you about that in the next newsletter....  Some things have to be a surprise!

We added two new campaign staff members and they are helping magnify our efforts.  One of these folks has run a statewide campaign in the past so we are especially excited about having him on the team.  We received our new, full size yard signs that have been slightly re-designed.  Some of our smaller yard signs were stolen from people's yards,  but now we are replacing them with the new, bigger signs so that is OK!

To top all of this off we recently had a story written about the campaign published in two Parker County newspapers.  You can find the link to Marshalls News Messenger below.  In addition, we are planning our first Wise County event on November 20th - a Barbecue Fundraiser and meet the candidate event.  This will be an exciting event with live music and great food.  Let us know if you want to attend!

We are also looking forward to getting some air time through our participation in the "Who's Next? Project" with radio station 570 KLIF.  Check out their website at www.thewhosnextproject.com/elections and vote for us (look down the page under "U.S. Congress - District 12").  We currently have over 200 votes but would like to hit 300 if possible.  This is a great way to support the campaign with just a couple of clicks of the mouse.  Will you follow the above link and cast a vote for us (and anyone else on the website that you like)?

Last but not least, can you help?  We continue to need volunteers to help us knock on doors on the weekends.  I can't over emphasize how effective door knocking is.  Voters are vastly more likely to vote for me if they have met me or someone representing me.  This is a great way to have a direct impact on the campaign and to have fun with folks.  Did I mention we buy you lunch?  And it is great exercise?

OK - that is probably enough for now.  I am tired just thinking about all of this stuff!  Thank you again for your support and please let us know if you have any questions.  May God bless your week and continue to lead our nation.

On the trail...

Since announcing his candidacy in August, Mike has been making the rounds in Wise, Parker and Tarrant counties.  He believes it is important to seek out the people he hopes to represent in Washington in order to gain insight on which issues are most important to them.

During the first two weeks of September, Mike knocked on hundreds of doors around Fort Worth to share his ideas of how he wants to bring fiscal responsibility to Washington, DC in all areas of government.  He also had the opportunity to share his ideas in an interview on blogtalkradio.com.  You can listen for yourself at http://www.blogtalkradio.com/cantotalk/2009/09/03/Lets-talk.

Mike also attended the 9/12 rally in Fort Worth where he had the opportunity to hear from more concerned citizens.  Mike has plans to attend many events during the next couple of weeks and looks forward to having more face-to-face time with people in District 12.

As the country faces many challenges, grassroot efforts like Mike's campaign to bring principled leadership to Washington is making encouraging progress.  According to an article in the Marshall News Messenger, candidates like Mike are gaining traction as they step into the political arena for the first time.  You can read about it for yourself at www.marshallnewsmessenger.com/search/content/region/legislature/stories/2009/11/10/1110teaparty.html.
Brasovan on the issues...
Fair Taxes for All Americans
I am against the continuation of the current income tax system. I believe a 21st century nation needs to have 21st century solutions. A govern-ment that takes more financially from its citizens as they work harder and become successful is counter-productive to economic growth. Redistributing wealth is not a function of a republic with a market-driven economy.

According to research conducted by FairTax.org, American citizens lose more than $400 billion each year in time, money and effort to comply with the current federal income tax system. I believe a system like the FairTax is the solution.

The FairTax is a consumption-based tax designed to be revenue-neutral to the federal government. I have researched this system thoroughly and believe it offers the most effective method for accomplishing the following goals:

Promote Economic Growth:  The FairTax allows investment decisions to be based on allocating capital resulting in the best possible return, not on the most favorable tax consequences.  Additionally, this taxing method will allow U.S. companies with overseas operations to bring home their foreign subsidiary earnings without tax penalties. These earnings could then be invested here, creating more jobs.

Reduce Government Meddling: The FairTax plan gets the government out of our personal decisions on retirement accounts, investments, capital expenditures, mortgages and income options. No more records to keep. No more IRS investigations into our personal life, and no more dreading April 15th.

Increase Compliance: A consumption-based tax is more easily and efficiently collected than an income tax. Additionally, since it is collected at the time new products are purchased, it is almost impossible to avoid.

Encourage Exports/Encourage Increased Fair Trade:  By reducing embedded cost of goods produced here in America, the FairTax levels the playing field for competition with imported goods not taxed in their country-of-origin.  Additionally, because foreign companies would no longer face pre-sales tax penalties, they would be encouraged to RELOCATE their plants to the United States to export from here to the rest of the world
The FairTax has already been proposed in Congress but needs to be brought to the floor for a vote. If elected, I will fight to obtain the necessary co-sponsors for this legislation, and work to get it passed through the House as soon as possible.

BRASOVAN ENCOURAGED BY NY-DISTRICT 23 RACE

Below is a reprint of the latest press release on Mike Brasovan, Conservative Republican candidate for the US Congress District 12 in Texas. Mike is a solid fiscal conservative, pro-life, pro 2nd Amendment, pro-family.

-------------------
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Nov 2, 2009
CONTACT: Danielle Capper, dcapper@mikebrasovan.com.

New York-New York’s District 23 Congressional race should send a clear signal to the Republican party that conservative candidates can win elections, and stand up for the values that the party should support now and in the future, says Mike Brasovan, Republican Congressional candidate for Texas District 12.

“I believe this race clearly indicates that if the Republican party will stick to its conservative principles and lead based on those principles, people will follow,” he said.

Brasovan says he’s glad the campaign of conservative New York Republican Doug Hoffman overtook that of Republican state assemblywoman Deidre “Dede” Scozzafava. She was supported by current District 12 Rep. Kay Granger and considered a more liberal candidate because of her views on abortion, support of homosexual marriage and her endorsement by the Working Families Party.

Grangers support for Scozzafava stands in stark contrast to Brasovan’s support for Hoffman. “Hoffman was the clear choice for any real conservative” said Brasovan. “We should not support Republicans who, like Arlen Specter and Olympia Snowe, don’t stand for what the Republican Party believes. If we support leaders that can stand for, articulate and defend conservative principles, the Republican Party will not only grow, it will thrive. We'll get much better results in Congress if we send true conservative leaders that are concentrating less on being re-elected and more on implementing conservative based solutions to the problems that are facing our nation.

Mike Brasovan is president of THG Energy and Technology Solutions, the company he founded in 2003. The company - which focuses on developing energy supply solutions for a wide range of commercial, industrial, hospital and university clients - has grown to six full-time employees at its Fort Worth office.

Brasovan has served the Republican Party over the past few years as a Parker County election judge on multiple occasions, a delegate to the County and State conventions in 2006 and 2008, and an alternate delegate to the national convention in 2008. Brasovan also helped form the Parker County Young Republicans. He lives in Aledo with his wife of 16 years, Karen; their son, Michael (13); and daughter, Rachael (12).
