When will they learn?

The GOP, the RNC and all of their related "subgroups" continue to prove that they really don't want to win elections. Every time they are given an opportunity to do the right thing and choose principle over party they fail. Most recently a known big spending, pro-choice Republican who actually voted for TARP and is a member of several well known pro-choice organizations applied for membership to the Republican Study Committee. The RSC has been known for being the conservative coalition of Congressman but surprisingly they accepted her application for membership. It's quite obvious to anyone watching that she only did this, after 7 terms, to create a facade of conservatism when she is, in fact, not conservative.

This, of course, begs the question, “Why?” Several requests for an explanation have been submitted to the RSC with no response. Faxes and emails were sent to nearly every member and posted on their Facebook pages. Twitter was even used; all to no avail. They simply refuse to respond. One can only assume that some back room deal has been made. Maybe there was a guarantee of votes in line with the rest of the membership or an exchange of earmarks perhaps? The congressperson in question is known to be one of Congress’s most prolific spenders, yet the RSC is traditionally against increased government spending. Is it possible that some RSC members, while afraid to ask for earmarks themselves would approve her membership if she agreed to request earmarks for their districts? Only time will tell.
